I know, we've all read the stories about "cheap" guns. Well, I cought the Hi-Point 995 Carbine in 9mm primarily because I wanted a carbine in 9mm but didn't want to spend 3 times the amount on a Beretta. Well, I was pleasantly surprised! It's a great gun! |

Straight out of the box, I fired Winchester (white box) 9mm FMJ. No problems after 500 rounds. Later tried some JHP, some Blazer, some Remington UMC FMJ. After approximately another 300 rounds still no problems! I have yet to have a failure to feed/eject/or fire.
Accuracy isn't bad. I don't blame the gun for my faults. Shoot mostly on an outdoor pistol range at 25 yards. Always on the target. |

It's a "plain jane" carbine. No frills or fancy stuff. I understand ATI makes a classier stock to imitate the Beretta, but why pay $149 for a stock for a gun that only cost $200? Kind of defeats the purpose of an inexpensive "shooter".
The only complaint I have is that it only comes with a 10 round magazine. As others have stated, an after market 15 round mag is available, but after reading reveiws, over 80% were negative. So, I bought several more factory 10 round mags to keep down the reloading time at the range.
Overall, a great little gun. Yes, I would recommend and would buy again. |
