I've been looking for a handgun that had approximate demensions of the old reliable Makarov 9 X 18 pistol. As dependable as it is I just got tired of scouting about and ultimately mail ordering 9 mm Makarov ammo. The Taurus PT111 Millennium Pro has approximately the same demensions as the Makarov, yet due to the titanium slide and polymer frame, is a few ounces lighter. If you live outside of Kalifornia the Taurus is available with a 12 + 1 capacity. The Millennium Pro comes outfitted with Heinie sights which I found easy to adapt to and very accurate.

The whole intention of carrying a pistol like this is to offer you reliable, dependable, protection. For all it's excellent attributes I am sorry to say that I can not recommend this pistol for the following function failures: Load the magazine, any magazine, insert in pistol, chamber a round, pull the trigger the gun goes bang, the magazine falls out and the spent case fails to eject fully. Clear the pistol, reinsert the magazine, chamber a round and pull the trigger. The gun goes bang, the magazine falls out and the spent case fails to eject fully. Ad infinitum.

A gun that does not function 100% of the time does not deserve a complete review. I've taken advantage of Taurus's lifetime guarantee and sent the pistol in for repairs. It was returned in less than 5 weeks and now only drops the magazine 1 or 2 times for every loaded magazine. Not much of an improvement if you ask me.
