there's a reason the 500 is one of the most popular sporting shotguns as well as a favorite of military and law enforcement. one of the reasons for it's popularity is its removable barrel allowing you to chose from many different combinations. i bought the field/ security combo that came with a 28" and 18 1/2" barrels. i plan on ordering a rifled barrel for deer slugs from Mossberg as well. because of the interchangeable barrels this is truelly an all purpose shotgun. it feels very sturdily built, not like a gun you'd be afraid would break if you dropped it. however it's also a gun you're going to want to show off. the barrels and receiver are blued and go well with the wood stock and forward grip/slide.

extremely easy to shoot, recoil is manageable, easy to break down and clean, no malfunctions of any kind in over 500 shells fired, will feed 2 3/4" and 3" shotshells any order you load them,

the field/ security combo comes with a pistolgrip that can be installed in place of the traditional butt stock. it also comes with removable chokes (full, modified, and cylinder).
